The welfare of migrant workers is a concern for the network of the Trade Union Organisations for the Defence of Migrant Workers Rights (Rosyd-Tm), of which Csa Benin, Cgtb, Cosi-Benin, Unstb, Cspib and Csub are members.
On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2020, this network organized an awareness campaign on useful actions to stop the spread of the new Coronavirus virus (Covid-19) for migrant workers in the regions of Aplahoué and Djrègbé.
This action received technical and financial support from the regional organization of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-Africa).
Migrant workers in Aplahoué and Djrègbé are now well aware of preventive measures against Covid-19.
For the coordinator of the Rosyd-Tm Anselme Amoussou who is also the general secretary of Csa Benin and his colleagues, this campaign was an opportunity to call on all migrant workers to comply with the measures demanded by the Government to protect themselves from the Covid-19 wherever they are.
The slogans of this campaign were: "Water and soap, hydro-alcoholic gel and protectives masks must be your companions!” and “Follow the hygiene rules! “
In addition, the network took advantage of this awareness campaign to distribute hand washing devices, liquid soaps, gels, bleach and protective masks.
This action was much welcome by the beneficiaries. According to them, this activity is a clear proof that Benin’s Trade Union Confederations are truly committed to defend their right to social protection and other important rights for migrant workers
