The African Regional Organisation of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-Africa) strongly condemns the Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar. H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, has warned that this attack “risks endangering an already fragile situation in the Middle East.”
Qatar has always acted as a conciliatory state, supporting peace and mediation. Israel’s actions are an affront to global peace and a violation of international norms.
ITUC-Africa joins the African Union in calling for restraint, respect for sovereignty, and protection of civilians. We also urge the international community, including the United Nations and peace partners, to act urgently to stop further escalation.
