The ITUC-Africa third New Year School was, for the African Labour Research Network (ALRN), the opportunity to launch the book “Trade Union Services and Benefits in Africa”.
The dedicated book is the result of work cooperation between Kwabena NYARKO, Hilma Shindondola-MOTE and Dr. Trywell KALUSOPA, three researchers from the African Labour Research Network.
The launching ceremony was chaired by the General Secretary of the ITUC-Africa, Comrade Kwasi Adu-Amankwah who reminded the delegates present at the ceremony, the importance of this work for African trade unions. He also thanked the researchers for their findings while encouraging them to continue on this scale.
This book is a study of union benefits and services throughout Africa. It presents case studies, identifies some specific services and benefits, how they are designed and administered, their funding mechanisms and the challenges unions face in providing these services and benefits.
