ZCTU condemns raid on CSU offices and display of paranoia by law enforcement agencies

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions denounces the raid by police on the Counselling Services Unit (CSU) offices where five workers were subsequently arrested.

This is shocking paranoia displayed by law enforcement agencies in the country and ZCTU condemns the attack. This is not only an attack on the CSU but also an attack on the broader human right defenders network because within that network CSU has been doing sterling work in providing medical and counselling care for victims of police brutality and political violence.

This incident is a forerunner of more shocking raids, arrests, intimidation and detentions that are to follow as the country gets ready for elections in 2013.
ZCTU demands the unconditional release of the arrested human rights defenders and that police cease harassment and intimidation of civic society and rights groups.
