JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Finance Officer provides a full range of financial support, reporting and services to support efficiently and effectively the running of ITUC-Africa’s projects and the delivery of its work.
He/she provides support to the project team regarding contract modifications, compliance, payments, reports and any other duties related to the project.
He/she is expected to be able to occasionally travel to project sites if need be.

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks
• Provide financial services, advice, support that contribute to the ITUC-Africa’s quest for value for money and attainment of its strategic plan.
• Provide business partnering and support to teams, including providing technical support.
• Finance assistance and taking part in monthly meetings.
• Assist in the investigation of Budget versus Actual variances as highlighted by budget.
• Working with project team (Coordinators, administration, leadership, funding partners)
• Prepare promptly interim and final financial donor reports.
• Provide elaborate projects budget during the annual budget planning process.
• Provide support with uploading the approved annual budgets on the accounting system.
• Deliver accurate and timely comparative management reports to the teams.
• Attend promptly to all queries during project and statutory audits.
• Maintain the Budget tool, ensuring the integrity of the tool at all times.
• Take part in finance induction of new staff members and monthly staff meeting as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other members of the ITUC-Africa staff.

Other Responsibilities
• Participate in internal meetings and organisation wide meetings and initiatives.
• Participate in regular line management sessions, semi-annual and annual appraisals
• Provide cover for other members of the Finance team on absences and in emergencies.
• Engage in programme and organisational learning, contributing to organisation learning events
• Carry out any other responsibilities that may be assigned by ITUC-Africa Leadership

Specifications:
• Qualified Accountant: BA or master’s degree in accounting and finance
• Substantive working experience in NGO finance; working experience in a grant/project funded environment and donor reporting.
• Rigorous and discreet
• Good attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Determined, assertive and proactive.

Language: English and French

Date of start: 1st September 2023
